This study evaluates an advanced ex-situ mineralization agents—CaO, Ca(OH)2, and wollastonite—under high-pressure environments (50 atm to 500 atm). Batch carbonation experiments demonstrated that CaO yielded the highest mineral precipitation efficiency, achieving 0.148 g of solid carbonate at 500 atm and 298 K, significantly outpacing alternative materials by 60% to 80%. Parallel geochemical simulations using PHREEQC indicated that elevated gas pressures and seawater's native ionic matrix lower fluid pH and alkalinity while dramatically boosting mineral saturation indices (SI). Optimal precipitation chemistry occurs between pH 8.0 and 8.5 at 298 K, where secondary impurities are effectively suppressed. Furthermore, a Monte Carlo economic analysis demonstrated that a 10% reduction in upfront capture costs can decrease overall storage expenses by 15%. This integrated study clarifies optimal reaction windows, providing a robust, scale-ready route for permanent ocean-based carbon removal without localized acidification. However, without clear mechanistic links between ecosystems and people, these services can remain abstract and intangible. Consequently, it is challenging to predict the effects of environmental degradation on human welfare or to identify effective ecological interventions that improve human lives. Here we record individual-level diets, crop yields, farming income and crop–pollinator interactions in replicate smallholder communities in Nepal to quantify the links among insect pollinators, crop plants and nutrient intake and income of individual families. Insect pollinators were directly responsible for 44% of people’s farming income and more than 20% of their vitamin A, folate and vitamin E intake. We show how declines in local pollinator species are anticipated to exacerbate rates of poverty and micronutrient deficiency in vulnerable communities such as the ones studied here. However, our results demonstrate that management of local pollination services can improve human nutrition and household income. Indeed, abundant pollinators like native honeybees, bumblebees and hoverflies are the most important for sustaining and enhancing nutrient flows. Applied more widely, this approach of linking biodiversity to human health and livelihoods could reveal sustainable new pathways for improving the lives of millions of smallholders worldwide.","2026-05-09 15:03:06+08","[{\"name\": \"Bob\", \"email\": \"Bob@yahoo.com\", \"affiliation\": \"Nature\", \"isCorresponding\": true}]","Bob. Indirect Hydraulic Fracturing (IHF), where fractures are initiated from a wellbore placed 2–4 m below the target coal in the higher-stress clastic interval and propagated upward across the coal–clastic interface, has emerged as a practical alternative for these reservoir conditions. This review consolidates two decades of Australian research and field implementation comprising 55 successfully placed IHF stages across five wells in the Cooper, Surat and Bowen Basins, with only one over-flush stage failure and mine-back verification of simplified, planar fracture geometries causing no roof or floor destabilisation. Numerical simulation of IHF co-application with existing Surface-to-Inseam (SIS) Chevron-style well patterns at the Moranbah Gas Project indicates P50 incremental recovery of 1.9 Bscf per block and total uplifts of 23–59% over 20 years, with the largest gains in the lowest-permeability cases. Independent Chinese field and modelling studies in the Hancheng block and the Ordos and Qinshui Basins corroborate IHF feasibility in broken-soft and cataclastic coals. We present a unified IHF workflow — covering DFIT-calibrated stress profiling, 40–50 m stage spacing, multi-modal diagnostics and micro-proppant co-application — and discuss its direct applicability to efficient development of Chinese CBM and coal measure gas resources where direct in-seam stimulation has proven inadequate.","2026-07-13 17:57:36+08","[{\"name\": \"R.
